FenCon III was a good time as usual. We had a good sized gathering with 11 attendees, got to catch up with our old crew, and had a few new faces join us as well. I even added a couple of pictures from the event to our photo gallery page.

Next event on the Texas roster is World Fantasy Convention in Austin in just a few short weeks. Any sort of DFW HWA gathering will probably be informal and spur-of-the-moment due to the fact that only a few of us will be there (3 so far) and we're unsure yet of the programming schedule.

FenCon III is on the horizon. Always a great con, this year's event promises to meet expectations with Guest of Honor Alan Dean Foster, artist Guest of Honor Darrell K. Sweet, Toastmaster Jim Butcher, and Special Guest Lawrence Watt-Evans. A number of HWA members are also on the guest list, including Charlee Jacob, C. Dean Andersson, Deborah LeBlanc, Steve Wedel, Angeline Hawkes, Christopher Fulbright, C.T. Adams, and Cathy Clamp.

This is just a quick note to mention that Robert E. Howard Days is being celebrated starting this Thursday, June 8 in Cross Plains, Texas. Events are planned to run through Saturday, including tours of Howard's home and his environs, panels with Howard scholars, and appearances by Roy Thomas and Glenn Lord. In other news, the next meeting of the DFW HWA is still planned for Conestoga. Stay tuned for more information closer to the date.

Thanks to everyone who was able to make it to the DFW HWA meeting last Saturday at ConDFW. We had record attendance for the dinner (10 people!), and were able to meet a couple of new members from the regional area.

An e-mail recently went out to all local members for whom I have contact information regarding the upcoming chapter meeting at ConDFW.

We will be meeting in the hotel lounge for lunch around 12:00 noon. This time is still tentative, because programming information for the convention has not yet been posted, so it's impossible to say at this point what the various members' schedules will be.

Another update will be sent via e-mail as soon as the convention programming is available.

I hope that the New Year has been good to everyone so far. Things are already moving along toward February and ConDFW. Please don't forget that we will be having a local chapter lunch meeting on Saturday. More details will follow closer to the event, but if you're in the area or within a reasonable driving distance of the area, please consider joining us.
