HWA SFV – MINUTES OF MAY MEETING

The meeting was held on Sunday, May 7th, 2006 at 6 p.m., at Dark Delicacies (since Iliad Bookshop just moved and had no seating). Present were: Greg Hill, Brad Hodson, Del Howison, Courtney Joyner, Mike McCarty, Lisa Morton, Eden Salisbury, Jonathan Torres and Scott Alan Woodard.

After the April minutes were read and discussed, the meeting discussed some news items from the parent organization, including upcoming elections.

In new items, the chapter’s website was discussed. Once again, the idea of adding local events that are of interest to HWA members was mentioned, and there was some discussion of adding trailer links to members’ pages in the website.

Several members mentioned having more discussion of markets at the website, and it was decided to add a discussion board to the site as soon as possible. One member requested that, if possible, a discussion board be set to reference both “today” and “yesterday”, rather than the default of “today” and the previous day’s date.

Live chat was briefly discussed, and it was decided to investigate the possibilities of adding a live chat function to the website.

The subject of guest speakers was also discussed. Members would like to see guest speakers at future meetings, and the possibility of offering the guest speakers on a live video webcam was discussed.

The upcoming World Horror Convention was briefly discussed, as was the browser bar offered to us by freelanthropy.com (this discussion was tabled, since the browser bar will soon be discussed by HWA’s Board of Trustees as a possible offering to the parent organization).

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
