HWA SFV – MINUTES OF NOVEMBER MEETING
The meeting was held on Sunday, November 5th, 2006 at 6 p.m., at Dark Delicacies Present were: Del Howison, Lisa Morton, Jon Torres, Scott Alan Woodard, and guests James Mabrey and Scott Von Klaun.
The first item of business was reading of minutes from the September meeting, followed by discussion of business from the parent organization. The elections were discussed, and the current ballot measure to change the Stoker voting schedule was also discussed. Discussion next centered on the organization’s new logo, and forthcoming brochure and website update.
The next item was new business, which centered on suggestions in regards to how the chapters and the parent organization should interact. The following suggestions were made:
- All promotional materials on forthcoming events and publications (i.e., bookmarks, brochures, etc.) should be distributed to the chapters, who can help pass out the materials on their local level.
- Minutes from all chapters should be collected in a central location on the HWA website.
- There should be more interaction between the chapters and with the parent organization.
- An easily-accessible calendar on the HWA site (preferably on the main page) could list chapter events and meetings as well as other events, so members who are traveling could find out if the local chapter has any activities they might be able to visit. Scott Alan Woodard later provided this link as an example of a clean, easy-to-read calendar: http://www.dpsfv.com
A suggestion was also made that our chapter might add a “Book Club”, selecting one horror book each month to discuss the following month.
Lastly attendees discussed current projects: Scott Von Klaun read a short story out loud, and also shared artwork with us; Scott Alan Woodard’s DARK SHADOWS CD (basically a “radio play”) will be released later this month, and he’s currently working on some new short fiction; James Mabrey is working to adapt an existing screenplay into a novel; Jon Torres is working on some short fiction; Del Howison is working on Dark Delicacies 2 and a television project; and Lisa Morton is working on a novella.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
