Born in 1956
Lives in North London

"I've lived in London nearly all my life, and written for most of it. My first professional sale, penned while I was still at college, was to a hardbacked sf anthology from Hutchinson books. Oh, I studied law at college by the way, but realised in my second year I didn't want to be a lawyer. The reality is, there's only one occupation I ever wanted to follow, and this is it.

My first novel, 'The Harvest Bride', came out from Tor Books in 1987, and was nominated for a Bram for Best First Novel -- against some very stiff competition indeed, unfortunately; Clive Barker and Dan Simmons had their first novels out the same year, and I'm not even sure they won it!

But it's my second book, 'Nightfeast', that truly points where I was headed. I'd travelled far more widely by the time that I wrote that one, and locations in the novel include Jamaica, Paris, New York, New Orleans. I've been an inveterate traveller for a long while now, and often use the places I have been as settings for my work.
I've published around forty short stories, with appearances in Asimov's, F&SF, Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine (I write one of those type very occasionally), Weird Tales, Pan Horror, The Third Alternative and Cemetery Dance. And I was a major contributor to The Science Fiction Film Source Book, as well as writing reviews for the long-defunct Ad Astra magazine.

So, what do I do when I'm not writing or travelling? I'm a film buff, and a jazz fan. I cook (well) and do tai chi. Writing and travelling take up a lot of my time, though, believe me.

My novel -- 'Postcards From Terri' -- was published by Sarob Press in January 2004, and has my full bibliography and a foreword by Ramsey Campbell. 'Ghost Dance' is due out from Sarob some time in 2005."
