That's a good story! Well done if you scared a thief and if it was a prank I hope your brother had stern words with his mate for giving you a shiner. Hearing you were only six or seven when Resident Evil Two was released makes me feel old, so I'll not thank you for that :)

I don't entirely agree with your assesment of Rob Zombie's Halloween - I quite like the trailor-trash explanation. I've been a fan of his music since I was fifteen so I might be cutting him far more slack than I would most people or than he deserves. I also like the geek-nod casting of Danielle Harris in both his remakes. Any which way you look at them, they are better than H:20!

Now, given that I'm a contributor to 'Zombies Need Love, Too', am I still allowed to enter the free-draw?

Exactly right. Just reading your story about the sound outside your window gave me goosebumps - and a big smile.
I grew up in the country, and more than once have heard sounds from beyond the safety of my bedroom (or my living room, for that matter) and unless I was sure of what was making it, I usually just let it be. If me and mine were safe in the house, whatever was out there could keep on making those noises until it grew tired.
"Something" is definitely a terrifying word.

HH CONTEST ENTRY

Even if this wasn't a contest entry, I'd have commented on this.
I'm now 40 years old (oh, the horror!) and you've just reawakened the fear that embedded itself in my soul when I read Salem's Lot as a child, and had a dying tree outside my bedroom window - a dying tree that I was convinced was my non-existant brother scratching the window telling me to 'let him in'!
Worse than any horror villain or ghost.
Something.
'Something' will terrify me until the day I die.
I can only hope that I don't get poked in the eye by it.
