The HWA Gallery Presents...

HWA Photo Gallery

New! Please visit out Gallery full of Photographs of various Horror Events, Conventions, etc, and at last be able to put a face to the name of your favorite author or editor!

The Art of Horror

Writing Horror and the Art of Horror have always been closely knit. Like Lyrics to Music, Art has enhanced the craft of fiction writing, expanded it. Whether through illustrations in a magazine's short story, on a web 'zine, to the cover of a paperback novel on the shelf of Barnes and Noble. HWA would like to showcase the art of their members in this new Gallery. Please visit their pages, let them know what you think. When it comes time for locating a dark artist, we hope you'll look here first. Click here for guidelines on how to become part of the Gallery.

Three galleries by G. W. Thomas.
G. W. Thomas

My art is largely inspired by the WEIRD TALES illustrators: Lee Brown Coye, Hannes Bok, etc. Unlike many artists, I'm not interested in what I call "reporter drawing" but the atmosphere of an image.

My Mythos collection THE BOOK OF THE BLACK SUN is available from Double Dragon Books June 1, 2002. His horror poetry collection PRAIRIE CEMETERY is available from Kingfisher Books June 1, 2002. Read a preview poem here. Read his stories, articles, poetry and see his artwork free here.

Art by JET
Jeffrey Thomas

"At my site for Necropolitan Press one can find some of the cover art I've done for magazines like FREEZER BURN (my site's front page) and my own collection AVATARS OF THE OLD ONES (on my catalog page). Many of the projects I've produced through Necropolitan Press feature illustrations and collages by myself, such as THE EARLY HISTORY OF AMBERGRIS. Recently I've done covers for the magazine FLESH & BLOOD and the collection PODDITIES."

Color, Black & White
Marge Simon

"Come visit my websites, friends of art both dark and light! I have color on one, b/w on the other. Some for sale. But the selling isn't the big deal, it's a way to display my various seasons of styles, images. My illustrations will appear in EXTREMES, as well as in a special edition of PULP ETERNITY. I suppose you'd call me a veteran illustrator since the late 80's. Just shows you I'm not by any means finished--my table is spread with something for just about anyone's taste!"

Images in Black & White
by Louis Maistros

Louis Maistros is the author of The Big Punch and an upcoming collection of shorts entitled, Big Ass Bucket of Fine Literature . He also writes book reviews for the excellent online publication, The Chiaroscuro: Those Who Walk Alone . The paintings included in this gallery are black and white; no grays, no colors - as are all his paintings. He lives in New Orleans.

Yvonne Navarro
The Darke Palace Gallerie de Strange

"It's been quite while (as in years) since I've had time to draw-- no doubt now I'd have to "start all over" if I decided to take up a piece of graphite again. Still, I keep telling myself that I might do it someday, especially when I write a story and have an image in my mind that I so want to go along with the words I'm sharing with the world. Until that elusive day of free time comes, stop by the Gallerie de Strange on my web site and see what I did in days gone "bye."

Alan M. Clark
Imagination for Hire

For fine art and illustration--fantasy, science fiction, horror, biology, the surreal--see the Alan M. Clark galleries at the IFD Publishing web site

Fright Time Stories and other Images
Wayne Thoden

Illustrations from a yet to be published collection of nine horror short stories for young readers called Fright Time Stories, written and illustrated by Wayne Thoden. There is also another link for the Artwork page that has some of Wayne's other work. The image here is from the story "Curiosity".

Sandy Deluca

"I have a degree in Fine Arts, with heavy concentration on studio painting. Years ago I never realized my love of art could be combined with my love for dark fiction. However, as of late I've been doing just that. Some of the illustrations in the first gallery are from my new poetry and art chapbook, BURIAL PLOT IN SAGITTARIUS. Others are from THE RED, RED ROBIN PROJECT, from LONE WOLF PUBLICATIONS, which I had the honor of illustrating earlier this year. The illustrations in the second gallery are lighter fantasies. I hope you enjoy them all.

Guts

Images from a Former Mind
Hertzan Chimera

There are 8 full colour paintings from my former life as a psycho-figurative artist and 12 B&W images from the Creation Press published graphic novel THE SONGS OF GILLES DE RAIS.

GAK

"It is only after we have lost Everything, that we are free to do Anything." Tyler Durden

Twisted fine line illustration so sharp it can put your eye out. Horror, Sci-fi, Fantasy and so much MORE!!!

Georgi Ostashov

Georgi Ostashov is a thirty-three-year-old russian-born artist who has always been interested in different kinds of visual art. He started with traditional mediums, and then moved on to computer as the essential tool in his creative process. His works may be characterized as digital mixtures made from paintings, drawings, photos and media experimentation. His influences include Miran Kim, H.R. Giger, Francis Bacon, Dali, Aivazovsky and J.M.W. Turner.

Georgi believes that one of the greatest things about art is that it gives us the ability to see, imagine and feel things in certain ways. His website allows us a glimpse of the transformation of these things into dark, brutal and surreal visions.

Michael Ian Bateson

"...Am I not man, does my heart not bleed? No Lord, no God, no hate, no pity, no pain, just ME...I choose my way. Never to be ruled nor held to heel. Not heaven or hell just the land between.

And am I not man...?"
