HWA LOWER MIDWEST CHAPTER

A great healer travelled down the road one day and came upon a man sitting by the side of the road weeping. He said, "What's the matter, my son?"

The leper replied, "I am a leper, o master, and I beg you to heal me."

So the healer placed his hands upon the leper's head and healed him.

A little farther down the road, the healer came to a second man weeping, and said to him, "What's the matter, my son?

The man replied, "I'm blind, o master. Will you heal me?"

And the healer placed his hands upon the blind man's eyes and healed him.

Still farther down the road, the healer came upon a third man weeping, and said to him, "What's the matter, my son?"

The man replied, "I am a writer, o master."

And the healer sat down and wept with him.

Our job is to reduce the tears.

Writing in itself is a difficult curse to live with, but writing alone is even worse. Many writers, particularly of horror, have to work at the world's loneliest profession with no support and no one of their same vocation to "talk shop" with. Lower Midwest HWA provides that support.

Our meetings provide a monthly place for the midwestern writer of horror to go and discuss latest projects, to shoot the breeze, and just to know that there are others out there that feel just the same way you do, about the same genre you do.

July: Due to the fact that writers are extremely busy people with full social and work schedules (right!), there were no meetings in June or scheduled for July as of yet. Watch this space for changes in that situation.

May 21: The group met at the house of LMH President Mark Worthen and ironed out quite a few business details, including the final word on who is to edit the upcoming anthology. Due to lots and lots of different activities, there was no July meeting.

Our sister organization, the Midwest Writers of HOrror began work on compiling its anthology.
