A message from Marcy Italiano

Hi everyone,

It's Canada, and it's summertime, and that means it's BBQ season.  The Horror Writer's Association would like to invite you, the member, non-member, experienced and aspiring writers of Ontario over to Waterloo for the fun.  Come for the food, for the inspiration, to mingle, and just to see each other again.  Feel free to send this invitation along to others that may be interested as well!

July 31st, any time after 2pm is good for us.
[Sèphera suggests: I would like to add that you should bring food and bring your own booze!]

Marcy Italiano

P.S. Unfortunately, our house is not pet friendly, but we are kid friendly.  :)  (Or, some of you may want to escape from the kids.  LOL!)  For information on how to get to the BBQ or what to bring email the webmaster here... Trillium Chapter Webmaster.

Hi everyone,

I hope to see you all at this year’s 17th Annual Horror Writers Association Conference and Bram Stoker Awards Banquet.

If anyone planning to attend is interested in volunteering that weekend, I could still use more help. You don’t have to have purchased your ticket yet--just knowing you’re interested works for me right now. Again, my contact info is StokerChair@horror.org.

Feel free to email me with any questions.

Monica

P.S.   Info on the Bram Stoker Awards Banquet is

available here.

To the Trillium Chapter and Friends,

Here is the proposed schedule for THE WORD ON THE STREET, Sunday September 28.  If you want to be included in the signing and are a current HWA member in good standing, please email me immediately before I make the sign for the booth.

Edo Van Belkom, my son Dorian Grant, 12, (author in DARK OFFSPRING) and myself will be at the booth from the time it opens until it closes, with the exception of breaks of course.  Anyone is welcome to help work the booth at any time for as long as possible.

The festival runs from 11 am to 6 pm.

If you are not signing, we certainly appreciate your help in promoting the HWA to the common masses!

If you have any ideas on how to decorate the booth, please bring them.  We have a table, I'll bring a black tablecloth, two chairs.  HWA is sending flyers which I'm still waiting for, but it's still early.  You may bring flyers promoting your own work, but depending on table space, may only be able to have them out when you are signing.  If you have flyer stands, that would be wonderful.  I don't.  On your personal flyers, you should mention you are an HWA member, since that's the point of having the booth!

You may bring your own books during your signing time.

Depending on how the day goes, you may sign longer then your signing time.  I have one person designated per slot but like I said, there are two chairs, so if someone wants to sign at the same time as the person "officially" signing or just generally promote, that's fine.  Others can stand in front of the table, or walk through the festival with flyers.

We are booth 56, in the Writer's Block.  We are closer to University.

Here is a proposed schedule.  If you aren't on it, or don't like your time, let me know.

      Edo Van Belkom 12 - 1
      Diana Barron 1 - 2
      Sèphera Girón 2 - 3
      Marcy Italiano 3 - 4
      Gord Rollo 4 - 5
      Stephanie Bedwell - Grime 5 - 6

This is the first time HWA will have a presence at WOTS so let's make it a memorable experience!

Best wishes,

Sèphera Girón

WORD ON THE STREET, TORONTO, SEPTEMBER 28

WORD ON THE STREET is quickly approaching.  I'm going to be making up a schedule in the next week, so please, if you are planning on coming to sign books, let me know asap your time preferences.  Even if you've already told me, please email again, because it's been a long time and you may have changed your mind.  You must be a current member of HWA to take advantage of the table for signing your books.

If you want to volunteer to hand out flyers and talk to people about HWA, that would be wonderful too.  We need as many people as we can get.  If you have a set time you want to come, let me know.

Edo Van Belkom and myself will be at the booth the full day, so even if you don't want to help out HWA this year, please come by and say hi!

Best wishes,

Sèphera Girón
